Position Category: Business Intelligence Company/Location (search) : Country (Full Name): : United States Job DescriptionAs a BIE on the AWS Analytics team, you'll work with a team that's fully responsible for every aspect of the software development cycle, including software architectural design, data integration from various internal systems, building backend services for data recommendations, development of highly interactive web applications, software deployment using continuous integration tools, and monitoring to ensure high availability. You will have the exciting opportunity to work with Big Data technologies to build complex analytical models that will seamlessly integrate with custom web applications. Additionally, the AWS BD Engineering team has full access to every AWS Service and many other powerful, proprietary Amazon tools that improve developer productivity, ultimately leading to more powerful applications. Roles and Responsibilities: Think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to work cross-organizationally. Ability to distill problem definitions, models, and constraints from informal business requirements. Demonstrate deep understanding source data from various internal/external system. Own the logic for the analytical models. Communicate and present findings to our business and internal customers globally. Automate models to produce analytical recommendations. Work across multiple internal organizations. Work in an ambiguous environment, drawing out and developing business requirements to meet changing needs. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer and/or Business Intelligence Engineer 3+ years background in computer engineering or information systems 3+ years deep experience in building and leveraging analytical data warehouses (i.e., SQL rock star, dimensional data modeling, experience with ETL, etc.) 3+ years of experience with a modern programming language (e.g., Java, Ruby, Python, etc.) Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal organizations Preferred Qualifications Experience using AWS services for data analytics (i.e., Redshift, EMR, ElasticSearch, etc.) Experience building data warehouse, reporting/BI platforms or leveraging statistics for data analytics Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives Strong verbal and written communications skills This position must be located at one of our U.S. AWS Corp. offices with a preference for Seattle.
